Detoxification The Detoxification Unit is located on the 3rd floor of the Canton-Potsdam Hospital and provides quality services in a therapeutic environment protected by privacy and confidentiality. Most patients require a two to four day stay.
After initial assessment, there is a thorough physical exam with diagnostic tests as necessary. Physicians, nurses, counselors, and other professionals work together to help assure a successful first step toward recovery.
The services provided for all patients include; individual counseling, educational groups and videos, and structured activities. Patients participate according to their physical condition. Patients have access to six self-help meetings a week. Family members and others close to the patient are encouraged to arrange a counseling session for themselves, and seek assistance in such self-help programs as AlAnon and NarAnon.
The main focus of the Units work is to provide the stepping stones necessary for ongoing recovery: safe, supervised withdrawal and referral for continuing care along with education and counseling. Rehabilitation The Rehabilitation Unit is located in a separate building on the campus of the Canton-Potsdam Hospital and provides quality services in a therapeutic environment protected by privacy and confidentiality. Because the number of patients is limited to 17, there is an atmosphere of homeyness and a true focus on the individual.
Length of stay is variable and dependent on the needs of the patient, individual progress, the availability of a supportive living environment, and appropriate resources for further supportive care in the community.
A number of disciplines work together in addressing the treatment needs of each patient within a framework oriented to the principles of the twelve step fellowships. In all efforts by all professionals, there is a designed attempt to draw family members and others into the educational process as well as to counsel them with respect to their own involvement in ongoing treatment and/or self-help.
Outpatient Outpatient care is an active process designed to aid individuals in achieving the highest level of functioning possible in all of life's areas. Family and significant others of chemically abusing persons and compulsive gamblers are also treated in this clinic.
Length of stay is variable and dependent on the needs of the patient, individual progress, and status on the five dimensions of care.
The clinic is located in renovated space in the BOCES building, Richville. In addition to offices, there is a large comfortable waiting area, group rooms, and a convenient parking lot.
INITIAL APPOINTMENTS WILL BE MADE WITHIN THREE WORKING DAYS.
During the first visit, there will be an assessment interview and preliminary planning for the course of treatment. At that time, fees and payment plan will be arranged. A limited number of hours are available at satellite clinics in Norwood and Star Lake.
Further Continuing Care As a part of the discharge planning process from all of our units, patients are matched with appropriate and available resources in their communities including self-help, outpatient addictions counseling, mental health services, medical follow-up, educational services and other indicated programs. Patients who have need of a longer structured living environment are referred to a community residence placement. Whenever necessary, family members/significant others are also referred to appropriate care in the community.
Referrals Referrals are accepted from agencies or individuals themselves. All calls should be made directly to the Unit; agencies will be asked to forward a packet of relevant information upon obtaining an appropriate consent.
Staff Our staff includes physicians, allied health professionals, credentialed counselors, psychiatric social workers, registered and licensed nurses, recreational therapists, and support staff. |
